October saw The May Fair Hotel mark its 3rd year as the official hotel partner for the 55th British Film Festival’s London Film Week. Playing a starring role once again, The May Fair celebrated the two-week movie extravaganza by transforming into a giant movie theatre.
From the hotel’s famous façade – converted to feature miniature cinema screens showing festival highlights – to The May Fair Bar, which saw a cast of silver screen cocktails introduced, every aspect of the hotel carried a movie-inspired theme.
Living up to its reputation as a playground to the stars, Ewan McGregor was amongst the A-listers to grace The May Fair pre-premiere – and of course, no film could be complete without popcorn. An exclusive midnight screening in the hotel’s private theatre saw The May Fair team up with Joe & Seph’s gourmet popcorn to offer innovative, one of a kind flavours such as goats cheese and black pepper and toffee apple with cinnamon.
The campaign was designed by Mason Williams to highlight The May Fair’s role as ‘Official Hotel Partner to the 55th BFI London Film Week’, to celebrate the arts and the impact and influence of film on today’s society – and to commemorate the hotel’s historic film past and former owners the Danziger Brothers, founders of the famous Elstree Studios. Coverage highlights included Glamour, Timeout and the London Evening Standard.
From film to music – moving with the arts, The May Fair celebrated Christmas with a unique set of gospel choir carol performances. Open to public and guests alike, the hotel enlisted talented troupe of singers, Hot Butter Soul Collective.
Having worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry – Lionel Ritchie, Stevie Wonder, Madonna, Elton John, Robbie Williams – Hot Butter Soul Collective dazzled the audience with a whole host of festive favourites, from conventional classics to pop hits.
Alongside a unique Festive Treats package that included a range of complementary gifts – including a Dermalogica travel kit, £15 Liberty voucher, Westfield London VIP pass and afternoon tea experience – the gospel choir performances ensured Christmas spirit was brought direct to The May Fair, positioning it as the ultimate place to stay during the festive season.
